Arizona-based athlete Jeremy Ware is gaining widespread recognition for his remarkable feats, not only for his skills on the basketball court but also for setting multiple Guinness World Records.
Ware’s journey into the world of record-breaking began in January 2023 when he made his first mark in the record books. He achieved the longest backward basketball shot at a staggering 85.5 feet, an accomplishment that set the tone for his future endeavors.
Reflecting on the achievement, Ware said, “Each record has its own significance, but the adrenaline of the first one, that moment will never be topped.”
However, one record wasn’t enough to satisfy the ambitious athlete. Later in 2023, Ware set a second Guinness World Record by performing 37 squats on a Swiss ball in just 60 seconds—an impressive demonstration of both strength and balance.
In May 2024, Ware added a third record to his growing list: the farthest underhanded basketball shot—blindfolded—from a distance of 60 feet.
“While I don’t think the basketball shots are purely based on luck, with enough strength and practice, you can stand outside all day and eventually land a shot from that distance,” Ware explained. “The Swiss ball record is definitely the most technical, and the one I’m most proud of. But the backward shot definitely has the most flair.”
Ware’s athletic journey began years before he earned his world records. His passion for basketball started in his youth, and by the age of 12, he was already working with a personal trainer who introduced him to the Swiss ball for balance and core exercises.
“He used to have us do squats and other core exercises on the Swiss ball,” Ware recalled. “Then, one day, he challenged me to see if I could balance on it, and that’s when the idea for the record started.”
Now at 32, Ware’s skills have reached new heights. In fact, he broke the Swiss ball squat record on his very first attempt, humorously adding that after the achievement, he simply “went back to work.”
As for what lies ahead, Ware is already eyeing new records to conquer.
“If I get to four, I’ll be happy. I’m not sure about five or six, but hitting four is the goal for now,” he said with determination.
Jeremy Ware’s relentless pursuit of excellence continues to inspire, proving that with dedication and practice, no challenge is too great to overcome.
