Hyundai Motor Company’s award-winning IONIQ 5 has achieved a remarkable feat by taking part in a Guinness World Records™ title attempt for the greatest altitude change by an electric car.
The record-setting journey, organized by Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and driven by a professional team from Evo India, saw the Hyundai IONIQ 5 register an extraordinary altitude change of 5,802 meters. The adventure began at India’s highest drivable point, Umling La in Leh Ladakh, located at 5,799 meters above sea level, and concluded in Kuttanad, Kerala, which lies three meters below sea level.
The unprecedented record was achieved over the course of 14 days, with the team covering more than 4,900 kilometers. Along the way, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 demonstrated its exceptional resilience, advanced technology, and superior performance as it traversed diverse and demanding terrains. From the freezing temperatures and steep mountain passes of the Himalayas to the humid, coastal regions of Kerala, the electric vehicle handled extreme climatic conditions with ease.
The record-breaking journey highlights the Hyundai IONIQ 5 as a benchmark in the electric mobility sector, showcasing its ability to seamlessly navigate some of the world’s most challenging environments.
