INDIANAPOLIS – USA TODAY and the Indianapolis Indians have announced that Victory Field has been nominated for Best Minor League Ballpark in the prestigious 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. This recognition celebrates exceptional attractions and businesses, offering readers valuable recommendations. Fans can cast their votes daily through Monday, March 17, at 11:59 a.m. ET on the 10Best website.
Randy Lewandowski, president and CEO of the Indianapolis Indians, expressed excitement over the nomination, saying, “As we approach the 30th anniversary of being Indianapolis’ downtown hub for America’s Pastime, we’re thrilled to see Victory Field gain national attention. The ballpark plays a key role in creating lasting memories for nearly 600,000 fans every season.”
Since its opening on July 11, 1996, Victory Field has served as the centerpiece for Minor League Baseball in Indianapolis, situated within White River State Park. Over the years, the ballpark has undergone several improvements, including a new drainage and irrigation system beneath the playing surface, a revamped Corona Premier Patio beyond the right-field foul pole, and the addition of the Elements Financial Club behind home plate.
In 2024, the Indianapolis Indians set the pace across all 120 minor league teams, leading the league with an impressive average attendance of 8,405 fans per game over 70 home games. The total attendance for the season reached 588,363, just shy of the league-leading mark by fewer than 500 fans.
