March 6 (UPI) — A Canadian speed eater with an iron stomach has set a new Guinness World Record by consuming 25 Carolina reaper chili peppers in just 4 minutes and 36.26 seconds.
Mike Jack, a YouTuber from Canada known for his high tolerance to spicy foods, achieved this feat at Goatfest in Kitchener, Ontario. The Carolina reaper peppers, which are renowned for their intense heat, measure around 1,641,183 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). In comparison, an average jalapeno pepper ranges from 4,000 to 8,500 SHU. The reaper held the title of the hottest chili pepper in the world until the debut of “Pepper X” last year.
“I might make it look a little easier than it is, but I’m burning up here. I really feel it,” Jack confessed to Guinness World Records. “The peppers, they really hurt a lot.”
Jack is no stranger to breaking records, holding multiple Guinness World Records titles. His previous achievements include a record for drinking a Capri Sun juice pouch in 21.71 seconds using a paper straw.
His latest record, however, has solidified his place in the world of extreme eating, leaving fans impressed by both his endurance and his ability to handle the fiery Carolina reapers.
