Lake Placid, N.Y. – Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey forward Jack Ricketts was honored with the Gladiator ECAC Best Defensive Forward award at the league’s annual awards banquet Thursday evening, held on the eve of the ECAC Semifinals in Lake Placid, N.Y.
The Oakville, Ontario native is the third consecutive Quinnipiac player to receive the prestigious honor, following in the footsteps of Skyler Brind’Amour (2023) and Jacob Quillan (2024).
Ricketts, a transfer from Holy Cross, has had an immediate impact on both ends of the ice for the Bobcats. He leads the team in goals and is also the top shot-blocker among Quinnipiac forwards. His strong defensive contributions, combined with his offensive prowess, have been pivotal to the team’s success.
In addition to his defensive recognition, Ricketts earned second-team all-conference honors. He finished second in the ECAC with 14 goals in 22 conference games. This marks the third consecutive season Ricketts has received an all-conference accolade, having earned All-Atlantic Hockey honors during his time at Holy Cross.
The defending Cleary Cup champion Bobcats are set to face Cornell in the 2025 ECAC Championship semifinals on Friday. The winner will advance to Saturday’s final at 5 p.m., where they will compete against the winner of the Clarkson vs. Dartmouth matchup.
