A two-year-old Maine Coon from Minnesota, named Pugsley, has officially entered the record books with an extraordinary feat—his tail is the longest of any living domestic cat.
On March 26, Guinness World Records (GWR) confirmed that Pugsley, whose full name is Mr. Pugsley Addams (inspired by The Addams Family), possesses a tail measuring an astonishing 18.5 inches. His owner, Amanda Cameron, recalls that even during his first veterinary visit, his unusually long tail drew immediate attention.
“The first time I took him to the vet, he walked in and said, ‘That is a REALLY long tail,'” Cameron told GWR. “I looked at it, really looked at it, and thought … ‘Yeah … it kind of is, isn’t it?'”
Six months later, the vet officially measured Pugsley’s tail and discovered it was longer than the record held at the time. The revelation prompted Cameron’s children, Finley and Josephine, to check the Guinness World Records database. To their amazement, Pugsley had surpassed the previous record holder.
“We were shocked!” Cameron said. “And at his age, he may still be growing.”
Pugsley’s expressive tail is not just for show—it plays a significant role in his playful and mischievous personality. The adventurous feline shares his home with three other pets: sisters Winnie and Dutchess and a brother, Gomez—another Addams Family-inspired name. According to Cameron, while Gomez is “violently affectionate and romantic,” Pugsley is known for his curiosity and knack for finding creative ways to be mischievous.
“Yet, he is also kind and caring and loves his momma,” Cameron added.
With his record-breaking tail and mischievous charm, Pugsley continues to capture hearts—and the attention of cat lovers worldwide.
