MSC Cruises has officially earned a spot in the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™, with its newest flagship, MSC World America, setting a remarkable record for the longest line of LEGO® ships ever assembled.
The record-breaking event took place during MSC World America’s voyage from the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, to her future home port in Miami, Florida. This achievement comes just ahead of the ship’s highly anticipated naming ceremony at the MSC Miami Cruise Terminal on April 9, followed by the launch of her inaugural Caribbean season on April 12.
Under the leadership of Captain Dino Sagani, more than 1,000 crew members collaborated to construct and arrange an extensive 291-foot-long line of LEGO® ships. The display stretched along the MSC World America’s World Galleria on Deck 6, spanning from stern to bow. Each LEGO® ship took approximately five minutes to assemble, with the crew collectively contributing 116 hours—equivalent to 7,000 minutes—of effort to bring this vision to life.
Despite the meticulous construction process, the final arrangement of the LEGO® ships for the official record-breaking attempt was completed in under two hours. The achievement was officially verified by a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ adjudicator, ensuring all guidelines were strictly followed.
This new record aligns with MSC Cruises’ commitment to delivering world-class entertainment experiences in partnership with renowned brands like LEGO® and GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™. The cruise line introduced its GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ entertainment program in 2023, allowing guests to participate in official record attempts, such as pulling 328 feet of rope or completing 20 chair rotations in under 21 seconds.
Since the program’s launch, MSC Cruises has celebrated 40 records set by both guests and crew. By May 2025, the program will be available on 16 ships, with plans for fleetwide expansion by the end of the year.
The MSC World America LEGO® ship record will now be added to the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ database, which houses over 13,000 global records, and will be featured in the Guinness World Records 2026 book, further commemorating this extraordinary achievement.
To celebrate their accomplishment, each crew member who contributed to the record-breaking attempt received an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ certificate and a LEGO® ship as a keepsake. This recognition highlights the dedication and teamwork of the MSC World America crew in bringing this vision to life.
