DUBAI, 7th April 2025 (WAM) – The closing ceremony of the 29th Dubai World Cup, held at the Meydan Racecourse, has officially set a new Guinness World Record for the largest flying LED screen formed by multirotor drones, with an impressive 5,983 drones involved in the display.
The 20-minute show, attended by over 60,000 spectators, featured cutting-edge drone technology, lasers, lights, and a spectacular fireworks display, providing a fully immersive visual experience that combined artistic creativity with cultural significance.
The sky came alive with stunning 3D formations, including massive portraits of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. Animated scenes of horses and the championship trophy further enhanced the visual spectacle.
According to Guinness World Records, “Dubai Racing Club broke their own record, previously set with 4,000 drones, by creating the largest drone-made screen, capable of presenting videos and images, similar to a commercially available LED screen. This achievement showcases the innovation and technological advancements of drones.”
The show concluded with a message of gratitude and an invitation for next year’s event, marking the 30th anniversary of the Dubai World Cup.
