The Laureus Award Gala took place in Madrid last night, providing a bright moment for Real Madrid fans during a challenging season. The club was named the best team in the world for the past year, lifting spirits amid their recent struggles.
Several sports legends were in attendance, including tennis icon Rafael Nadal, who recently retired. Another notable guest was Novak Djokovic, one of the greatest tennis players of all time. The Serbian athlete took time out of his schedule to visit the famous Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, where he was visibly impressed.
Upon stepping onto the pitch, Djokovic immediately praised the stadium, calling it one of the best he had ever seen. “It’s the best stadium in the world,” he said, adding that he had never encountered a more majestic venue.
Real Madrid’s home stadium, recently renovated, is known for its state-of-the-art facilities. The upgrades, led by club president Florentino Perez, included a 360-degree LED scoreboard, a sleek steel facade, and luxurious VIP suites. Additionally, the stadium now features a retractable roof and an underground greenhouse that stores the pitch, which only emerges for match days. These enhancements have solidified the Bernabeu’s status as one of the most iconic football venues in the world.
