For the second consecutive year, TIME, in partnership with Statista, has released its list of the World’s Top EdTech Companies 2025. This ranking identifies 350 leading companies that are shaping the future of education technology, covering both products and services.
Methodology Behind the Ranking
The “World’s Top EdTech Companies 2025” ranking is based on a comprehensive study to identify the top-performing EdTech companies globally, particularly in the United States. Companies had to focus on the development and provision of educational technologies, products, or services. Statista conducted extensive research to gather data from over 7,000 companies and selected the top 350 based on their performance.
The ranking relies on two main factors: financial strength and industry impact. Statista used a range of data sources, including company annual reports, media coverage, and online application forms, to evaluate each company’s performance.
Key Evaluation Criteria
-
Financial Strength: Statista analyzed data related to company revenue, employee numbers, and funding. Publicly available sources, such as annual reports and company websites, along with information submitted through the online application form, were key in this evaluation.
-
Industry Impact: To assess a company’s impact, Statista collaborated with HolonIQ and LexisNexis® Intellectual Property Solutions. Factors such as the quality and influence of the product/service portfolio, intellectual property (IP) holdings, and web traffic were examined to determine a company’s relevance within the education technology sector.
Scoring System
The final ranking was determined through a scoring model that combined the two evaluation pillars. The financial strength score contributed 70% to the overall ranking, while the industry impact score accounted for the remaining 30%. This process helped highlight companies that not only performed well financially but also demonstrated significant influence in the EdTech sector.
Rising Stars
In addition to the main list, TIME and Statista also announced a “Rising Stars Ranking”, which features companies showing the highest revenue growth over the past three years. Companies that qualified for this ranking had to meet specific criteria, including being under 10 years old, earning a minimum of $1 million in revenue in 2022, and achieving a revenue growth rate of over 20% in the past three years.
Disclaimer
The rankings and selection criteria were based on independent editorial decisions made by TIME and Statista. The evaluation was carried out by Statista using publicly available data and information received from companies through an application process. TIME and Statista do not claim the rankings to be comprehensive, and the companies included in the ranking were assessed based on the criteria outlined above.
This recognition serves as a testament to the top EdTech companies’ contribution to the industry, showcasing the leading innovators driving educational change in 2025.
