Yu-Gi-Oh!, the beloved franchise encompassing manga, anime, and trading card games, has achieved a remarkable milestone, securing not one but two Guinness World Records during a recent event in Tokyo.
Guinness World Records confirmed that the tournament, organized by Konami and known as the 10th Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Japan, witnessed a staggering 7,443 participants, making it the largest trading card game tournament in history.
Additionally, the event also clinched the record for the most entrants in a trading card game tournament held in a single venue simultaneously. This specific accolade underscores the magnitude of participants competing in the same location at the same time.
This achievement marks a significant leap from Yu-Gi-Oh!’s previous record-breaking feat in 2012, where 4,364 players participated in a tournament. The substantial increase in attendance at the latest event highlights the enduring popularity and widespread appeal of the franchise.
Reacting to the news, Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game’s official social media channels expressed jubilation, emphasizing the magnitude of this accomplishment within the community.
