In a remarkable feat of culinary craftsmanship, a team of 18 bakers in Suresnes, France, has set a new world record by baking the longest baguette ever recorded. Measuring an astonishing 140.53 meters (461 feet), this oversized baguette surpasses the previous record of 132.62 meters held by Italy for nearly five years.
The baking extravaganza took place during the Suresnes Baguette Show, an event organized by the Municipality of Suresnes, the Confédération National de la Boulangerie-Pâtisserie Française, and Nutella. Starting their laborious task at 3 a.m., the bakers meticulously prepared the dough and utilized a specially designed mobile oven for the baking process beginning at 5 a.m.
Once baked to perfection, the gigantic baguette was ceremoniously cut and partially served to the public, with a generous portion also donated to the local youth association CeLiJe for distribution to the homeless and those in need.
Suresnes Mayor Guillaume Boudy expressed pride in the achievement, emphasizing the baguette’s significance as a national symbol of French gastronomy and celebrating the skilled artisans who brought this monumental loaf to life.
This record-breaking event not only highlights France’s rich culinary heritage but also underscores the collaborative spirit and community generosity exemplified by the participants and organizers of the Suresnes Baguette Show.
