The world’s most expensive cigar lighter, the Louis XIII Fleur de Parme, is a luxury item that surpasses even the cost of a Ferrari. This exquisite piece was crafted by the French luxury brand S.T. Dupont at the request of Hong Kong billionaire Steven Hung, a passionate admirer of French history. Recognizing the unique nature of the project, Dupont enlisted Princess Tania de Bourbon Parme, a direct descendant of King Louis XIII and an acclaimed designer, to bring this vision to life.
The design of the Louis XIII Fleur de Parme is a tribute to the Renaissance and Baroque styles of the Louis XIII era, embodying the regal essence of a gold crown perched on a decorative base. The lighter is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, made from 400 grams of solid gold and adorned with 152 sapphires totaling 41 karats. It took six months and a team of 80 artisans to complete this unparalleled creation.
Unveiled in 2013, the Louis XIII Fleur de Parme was quickly recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the most expensive cigar lighter in the world, with a staggering price tag of $500,000. Even a decade later, it remains unrivaled in its category. Due to its immense popularity among luxury collectors, S.T. Dupont produced 31 smaller replicas, each selling for $15,900.
In addition to this, S.T. Dupont also holds the title for creating the world’s most expensive cigarette lighter, the Ligne 2 Champagne Lighter. Introduced in 2009, this lighter, priced at $79,461, features an 18-carat white gold case and is encrusted with 468 brilliant-cut diamonds. Both lighters exemplify the height of luxury and exclusivity, making the phrase “burning money” take on an entirely new meaning.
