In a recent analysis of 2023 stationary energy storage manufacturer shipments conducted by the China Energy Storage Alliance (CNESA), Hithium has secured its position among the top five battery manufacturers globally for energy storage product shipments. Additionally, the Energy Storage Systems Association (ESSA) has ranked Hithium as the No. 2 player for utility-scale projects within its domestic market of China. Established in 2019 with a primary focus on stationary batteries, Hithium marked its debut in product shipments in 2022, swiftly expanding its footprint onto the global energy storage stage in 2023 and ascending to the fifth position in the rankings within its inaugural year.
Jason Wang, CEO and co-founder of Hithium, commented on the significance of these achievements, stating, “These new rankings show that we’ve been able to deliver the kind of quality, safety, and innovation our partners need, and thus earn their trust in our first year on the global market. We’re very proud of this achievement—in only our second year of shipping battery products.” Wang further emphasized the validation of Hithium’s strategic approach, which centers on focusing exclusively on stationary energy storage and swiftly penetrating the global market. He emphasized the advantages of specialization, enabling the company to concentrate all resources on a single segment critical for the global energy transition.
Hithium has significantly expanded its operational capacity, having shipped over 20GWh in total, a capacity tripled between 2022 and 2023. Simultaneously, the company has fortified its production capabilities, culminating in the completion of the first phase of a highly automated new facility situated in Chongqing in December.
The company’s technological advancements underscore its commitment to enhancing the economics of energy storage projects. Notable achievements include the development of the new 314Ah cell, boasting an impressive 11,000-cycle life. Additionally, Hithium introduced the innovative 5MWh Hithium “∞Block” container, featuring a novel mechanical design that enhances energy throughput by up to 25% over the product’s lifespan. This breakthrough not only contributes to reducing the levelized cost of storage (LCOS) but also facilitates cost savings for project developers, including a potential reduction in land costs by up to 20%.
