YORK, ENGLAND – An 11-year-old boy from York has set a new Guinness World Record by peeling four mandarin oranges in just one minute.
The record-breaking attempt was part of a challenge organized by Absolute Radio’s Dave Berry Breakfast Show, which invited young listeners to propose new Guinness World Record categories. The chosen category was “most mandarins peeled in one minute (under 16).”
Taylor Camp, a dedicated young fruit enthusiast, was selected from a pool of applicants to make the inaugural attempt at this new record.
“He’s obsessed with satsumas. We find peels everywhere,” Camp’s mother remarked, highlighting her son’s passion for the fruit.
During practice, Camp managed to peel nearly eight mandarins, but the official on-air challenge proved more demanding. On his third attempt, he successfully peeled four mandarin oranges, meeting the goal set by Guinness World Records.
The record was officially verified by Mark McKinley, an adjudicator from Guinness World Records. To celebrate his achievement, Camp was awarded the title of “Master Peeler” by show host Dave Berry.
